Devil’s Creek by Todd Keisling – A Review

Yes, yes, yes, I did say I was going to be reviewing this soon. Well, I finished the book last night so now it’s time for me to get on with it. Besides, I got the ebook because I said I was going to review it so here I am fulfilling my end of the bargain.

So, lets get on with it, shall well?

Potential spoilers ahead!

Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh – A Review

Well, ain’t this a surprise. Two reviews back to back? What brought this on?

Simple, I haven’t been reading much and I’m using books with abour less than 150 pages to do a quick read in a day, and I’m trying to do these reviews so I can bring myself back into writing. Also, it doesn’t hurt to just give thoughts on a piece of work you’ve come to like.

But, another shock for you, dear reader, is that this is not a Keisling review, oh no, it’s a review of the author Emily Tesh!

I found this book from the library I work at, and I picked it up before shit went down with the outside world, so I’ve had time to read it.

Now, let’s get on with the review, though it may be short.

Spoilers ahead, maybe!

Scanlines by Todd Keisling – A Review

So, it’s been a while huh?

Oh yeah, judging by the last entry, this place is as good as dead. Or was, I dunno, I’m just here to write another review.

But Matt, you say, if I look back through your other postings, then this review is for an author you’ve talked about so many times already!

Yeah. And? This is my tiny corner of the internet, and I’ll do as I please (within guidelines of course).

I’ll agree that it must be boring for anyone to see someone review a piece work by the same author over, and over, and over again. Well, Todd isn’t paying me (yet?), and I am doing this of my own free will (I think?). Still, I write these reviews of Todd’s work because, well, it’s like being in on the ground floor of something that is happening and someone has to write about it.

Seriously, while other people do write reviews of Todd’s work, I just want to talk about his writing as well, because if I talk about it, then maybe one of you may pick up one of his books; and if you do, or hell, recommend it to someone who is interested in his line of work and they grab a copy, then I did my job.

So, to put it in another perspective, it’s like reading Stephen King’s work as it’s coming out for the first time, and you see how damn good his work is (in your eyes at least), so you want other people to read it as well. That’s how I see Todd; not as another King, but as a emerging writer who can hold his own and writes damn good stories that people should read. He is someone I look up to, to be honest. This isn’t brown nosing, this is just another writer seeing good work and wanting to talk about it.

So, on to the review? Spoilers ahead, of course.

But, just to head anyone off at the pass, this book does deal heavily with the theme of suicide, so read it at your own risk.
